International Moment of Frustration Scream Day!

scream day 50

While we normally don’t recommend screaming in our house and we are all quick to remind our kids to use their indoor voices, this day is an exception. As parents, we are rewarded with the accomplishments and love our children show us. However, on the way to these rewards, there is frequently crying, yelling, and pulling our hair out. Today, make it a family event as we all know our kids love screaming and we only wish that we could. Go outside and scream for 30 seconds, we promise you will feel better.

World Teacher’s Day!
teacher digital 1

This great holiday was actually established originally in 1888 and is the birthday of the second president of India. In 1962 it was changed to Teachers Day and while students and teachers would still attend school, instead of academics they would have a celebration! I don’t have to tell you that times are hard and school is a great challenge we are facing in the pandemic.

World Rabies Day!– While none of us want to think about our babies getting such a horrible disease, it’s an important one to talk about. We all know what rabies is but what you may not know is in addition to this disease killing over 5,000 pets per year, it also takes the lives of over 59,000 people annually. While we may never be able to eradicate rabies, let’s do our part to help. Make sure to keep your pets vaccinated and up to date. Many people choose not to due to the financial burden but there are some great free and low-cost clinics now for vaccinations. Don’t see any in your area? Let us know and we will try to help.

Celebrate the Holidays!

Week of 09/28-10/4

Monday, 9/28

  • National Family Day– This holiday falls on the fourth Monday each September. This great holiday is all about putting family first. We all try to do this every day but in a world of complex schedules, it’s hard to make face time with family. This holiday was created for one simple purpose, to hold a family dinner that everyone in your family attends. (If you don’t know what to make, try one of our easy recipes on our website) In addition to just catching up on your family’s day to day life, there is an added bonus. Some studies have shown that eating dinner as a family as little as twice a week will lessen the chance of your children using addictive and harmful substances such as drugs, tobacco, etc.
